We also operate Institute for Seer Press, an imprint publishing independent authors and standalone titles in literary and dark fiction.
Institute for Seer LLC (i4Seer) is an independent technology studio. Our primary product is Tick, a plug-and-play telemetry platform: a credit-card-sized device sends signed JSON to whatever endpoint a customer chooses — their own backend, a Tick Private Portal enterprise deployment, or the i4Seer-hosted portal. WiFi, cellular, or both. An operator-grade browser UI manages devices end-to-end — queued remote commands, firmware OTA, signed audit, structured on-device error log. We also operate Institute for Seer Press, an imprint publishing independent authors — currently the Seer Warns literary psychological drama series by author B. Carter at seerwarns.com. Books and hardware share one instinct: pay attention to what is actually happening.

He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering and Computer Science. When he is not writing, he is hiking with a backpack full of sensors, seeing what happens when circuits meet the real world. His Seer Warns adult literary series is about ordinary people who receive warnings so precise they cannot be doubted — and walk into the fire anyway. The series world lives at seerwarns.com. He also helps shape Tick, the IoT product that grew out of the hardware in his research.

Tick is an IoT telemetry platform built by i4Seer. A tiny device with a global cellular SIM ships HMAC-signed JSON to any HTTPS endpoint within seconds of power-on. Three transport modes (WiFi only, cellular only, or WiFi with cellular backup) and three deployment modes (a customer’s existing backend, a Tick Private Portal enterprise deployment, or the i4Seer-hosted portal) — configurable per device.
Live portal at tick.i4seer.com with an operator-grade UI over a live WebSocket: per-device panel with transport indicator, queued remote commands, firmware OTA with chunked download and resume, signed audit log, and a structured on-device error log that surfaces in the dashboard. i4Seer™ — preferred over “I4Seer” or “i4seer”. The “i” is always lowercase; the “4” is a numeral; “Seer” is capitalized.
